Workshops

Join us for our fun, interactive reading/drawing, arts and crafts workshops designed to teach kids the basics of financial literacy or drawing through storytelling! Through the adventures of lovable characters like Tilly the Turtle and Louie the Puppy, children learn smart money habits such as saving, spending responsibly, and sharing. Perfect for schools, camps, libraries, Girl Scout troops, and community events, this workshop inspires young readers to make thoughtful choices with their money—one story at a time!

Last month, I had the joy of hosting a reading session at Repetto Elementary School and I’m thrilled to share that copies of my book were delivered to all 13 elementary schools in the Alhambra Unified School District!

Even more exciting: my book has now reached 6 school districts across the West Coast!

This milestone is part of my Girl Scout Gold Award project, and it means so much to see these stories inspiring young readers in classrooms from California and beyond. Through creative storytelling, I hope to spark curiosity, teamwork, and financial literacy in children ages 5–8.

Thank you to the amazing educators, principals, and district leaders who made this possible. Your support helps turn a dream into lasting impact.

My hope is to continue donating books to more schools across the country, one story, one child, one community at a time.

What an unforgettable afternoon at the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library! Our “SMART KIDS” workshop was filled with laughter, learning, and lots of love. From storytime to crafting Make, Spend, and Share jars, these bright young minds showed us just how powerful early money habits can be.

Huge thanks to the incredible librarians for welcoming us into the Storytime Room and making this event possible. Your kindness and support mean the world! And to every parent, friends and family, and little learner who joined us—thank you for showing up and sharing your energy. I hope the kids left feeling inspired, empowered, and proud of their new money skills!

Here are some of our favorite moments from the day.

Girl Scout Reading/Crafting  Workshop

Last month, I hosted a money skills book workshop for our local Girl Scout troop—teaching smart choices through storytelling! Huge thanks to my amazing Scout friend Abigale for helping make it happen. Together, we’re raising confident, financially savvy girls!

What a special day at Monterey Highlands Elementary School! Our illustrator Eugene Law led a drawing workshop with the students, bringing Louie to life through their own creative lens.

Ms. Yamamoto shared, “Students had such a wonderfully engaging experience. Eugene shared his personal experiences as an illustrator, and patiently guided them to illustrate their drawing of Louie. Thank you Eugene!”

Thank you, Eugene, for inspiring the next generation of artists with your kindness, creativity, and storytelling.

At the SPARK Summer Camp, I had the joy of leading my very first reading workshop for my children’s book, designed to teach kids about financial literacy. It was such a fun and interactive session! We followed the adventures of Tilly the Turtle and Louie the Puppy as they learned how to make smart choices with their money. I loved seeing how engaged the kids were. Thank you for having me there, and I look forward to more fun workshops ahead!

Hi, I’m Keira Chang. For my Girl Scout Gold Award Project, I wrote and published a children’s book called The Second Race – The Turtle and the Puppy: A Story About Money, with illustrations by Eugene Law. It’s a fun, colorful story that teaches kids ages 5 to 8 how to save, share, and spend more responsibly — through two best friends racing to the fair.

As a teen cancer survivor, I saw how important financial stability is during tough times, and I believe kids should learn smart money habits early. That’s why I’m raising $2,500 to donate 250 books to schools, libraries, hospitals, and Girl Scout troops — to help empower the next generation with financial confidence.
